I would like to say thanks to OnTheFly (Shane Saari) for our awesome outing on the evening of July 1st. The weather was windy but beautiful for an evening of fishing. I have been an avid fisherman most of my life but I have to say that river fishing on the Wisconsin between Merrill and Wausau was a new and great experience. Between all of the structure, rock, and fast water it was both challenging and exciting with scenery that is second to none. You feel like you are the only one on the water because normal folks can’t access this stretch of river without appropriate gear. For over six hours Shane navigated us around the river, giving instruction on where to cast and what type of bait we should use. We had over nine fish throughout the night from smallmouth, musky and northern. I would like to thank Shane for is hospitality, guidance and look forward to booking another trip with him as soon as possible.

We had an absolutely amazing day on the Wisconsin River with Shane. His boat is very comfortable and we tried a variety of lures with Shane being very patient and helpful with one of us who was a bit rusty casting. We caught some Walleyes, Bass and a Muskie. We got to see some eagles, deer and turtles. We ate lunch at a park then finished out the day with more fishing. Shane was very knowledgeable in every aspect of the river and the areas that we fished in and offered great suggestions. The day went all too fast and we would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who wants to connect with nature under the guidance of Shane!

Went fishing with Shane in early July. First time fishing the river. Awesome experience. Cool boat. He can get to spots on the river most boats can’t. Had some high winds that day and some trouble getting my fish into the boat but we had a lot of action! Looking forward to doing it again. (I’m going to get that musky!) Thanks Shane!

Booking a fishing excursion with Shane was an awesome decision. He was very knowledgeable and professional and made a fun experience for me and my son. Not only did we catch some awesome fish but we had a great time as well. Definitely made for some memories that will be for a lifetime.

This is the second year I booked a trip with Ontheflywi, and had a tremendous time once again! The trip down the river is always a beautiful experience and any angler will find that river fishing brings a new set of exciting challenges. This year’s adventure came with additional excitement, while throwing for Musky I hooked into two very nice walleye making the trip well worth the experience. Also had a couple of smallmouth on the line, but their ability to dislodge a hook is second to none. We also, happened to get caught in a small, but intense, rain storm and would like to thank Shane for finding a large maple tree to tuck the boat under trying minimize how soaked we got. However, it is true – trees are 90% air. None the less, great company, good fishing and will continue to be a check on my annual bucket list. Until next time – maybe July – keep fishing.
